Few weird things going on
Sun 11 Apr 2021, 13:37
Hey all!
First, thanks so much for this wonderful overhaul. Can't believe I ever managed to get through Oblivion pre-OR. :p
Got a few questions regarding a few different things. First off, interior shadows. Here's what the fireplace in Weye looks like from a distance:
And here's how it looks up close:
I've read other threads and know this has to do with the amount of light sources that cast shadows, so I tried upping the number to 4 (from 2). That only led to the mantle being permanently near-black while the banners, chest etc remained nice from further away, but blackened once I got closer. I tried setting LightPoints = 0 to see if I could disable this feature altogether, but that also kept the mantle near-black at all distances. Is there any way to disable this? I'd rather have no shadows cast from interior light sources than bugged shadows cast from interior light sources.
Secondly, the towers on the IC bridge get a weird shadow cast onto them when I get a certain distance away from them and they're in direct sunlight.
If I move closer, the shadow moves up until it no longer covers the towers at all. If I move further away, it eventually moves all the way down to the ground. It doesn't extend to the ground, the buildings on either side, etc - it's only the white towers.
Last, fires turn nearly invisible when looked at with a foggy background.
If I move a bit and get the trees behind the flame, it gets a bit more solid.
If I look at it with the bridge itself as a background, it looks the way it's supposed to.
In clear weather it's not a problem at all, so I assume it has to do with the fog.
Any tips on how to fix either of these are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much for all the wonderful work you do.

Thanks for your reply!
Is there any way to disable interior shadows? Also, can I do anything to get "solid" flames regardless of background?

Flame trasparency may be related to VolumetricFog. Try to disable it
